I created Lilliston Marketing for Entrepreneurs as a methodical “slow and direct” way of helping you, my subscribers, avoid the pitfalls I experienced.
As a newbie entrepreneur, I’ve often felt that there was too much information. Almost every hour someone was coming out with some new way of creating wealth in a New York minute. But there was little information stressing the fundamentals to basic marketing.
I’ve always believed in the principles of “teach me how to fish, instead of just showing me where to buy the fish.” Both satisfies the hunger, but one leaves one more dependent and less reliant on creativity.
Why I Became an Entrepreneur
As in most disciplines, be it in sports, education, family, or the pursuit of a dream, there probably comes a time when we all asks our self: “What is my why?” Why am I putting so much energy into what I am trying to accomplish?
I have asked myself that question many times within the past ten years. Why am I an entrepreneur when statistically there is a 95% failure rate. What drives others? And what drives me? The odds are definitely not in our favor.
I came across a quote by Farrah Gray that says it all, “Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs.”
I always had a great desire to build, and encourage. That is probably one of the reasons I have an engineering degree, and a Masters of Divinity.
Though, they may seems opposite in principles, it is in the nature of creating (Creation) that binds the two together. And in some compelling way propels me towards being that 5%.
